SEO for dentists that books patients

Dentist SEO for Australian practices. Patients search by treatment and by suburb, so we build pages for both. We optimise the Google Business Profile that wins the map pack, write content that stays inside AHPRA's advertising rules, and report new-patient bookings, not clicks. From $349 + GST a month, no lock-in.

How patients choose a dentist

Patients search for a treatment, then a suburb, then they check the reviews.

Hardly anyone searches for “a dentist” in general. They search “emergency dentist near me” with a cracked tooth, “invisalign frankston” after six months of thinking about it, or “child dentist” the week school goes back. Each search has its own intent and its own patient value. A practice that has only a homepage and a services list is competing for all of them with one page.

Dental SEO is mostly about structure. Each treatment you want more of gets a page, each suburb you draw from gets a page, and a Google Business Profile ties the practice to its address. Behind that sit the trust signals patients look for before they book: who the dentists are, what it costs, which health funds you take and how to book online. Then come the editorial links that make Google trust the lot.

The suburb table uses our own patch, the Mornington Peninsula and Frankston, as a worked example. The pattern is the same in every Australian suburb. A handful of big phrases carry the volume, and dozens of treatment-and-suburb phrases have low difficulty scores that one good page can win.

What a dental website has to carry

SEO brings patients to the page. The page decides whether they book. These are the eight things we check on every practice site before we start ranking it.

  1. Online booking, always visibleA sticky booking button that opens your real booking system (HotDoc, HealthEngine or your practice software's widget), plus tap-to-call for the patient in pain.
  2. One clear headlineYour suburb and what you treat, in plain words, so Google and the patient both know where they are.
  3. Funds and payments up frontHealth funds, HICAPS on-the-spot claiming, Child Dental Benefits Schedule eligibility and payment plans. Cost is the question most patients have and the one most practice sites hide.
  4. A page per treatmentImplants, aligners, whitening, root canal, wisdom teeth and children's dentistry each get their own page, so each one can rank for its own searches.
  5. Reviews, handled the AHPRA wayA link to your Google reviews rather than clinical testimonials copied onto your own site, which the advertising rules prohibit.
  6. A secure, short formContact details and preferred time only. Health information collected online is sensitive information under the Australian Privacy Principles, so the form asks for as little as possible.
  7. Real people, real roomsDentist profiles with qualifications and registration, and photos of the actual clinic. Nervous patients are deciding whether they trust you.
  8. Where patients come fromThe suburbs you draw from, each linking to a page written for it, with parking, transport and opening hours.

Trust before the booking

Choosing a dentist is a trust decision made by someone who is often anxious, sometimes in pain and usually comparing three practices on their phone. The pages that win answer the questions patients are too polite to ask: what will this cost, will it hurt, does my fund cover it, and can I book tonight? Each treatment page explains the procedure in plain English, says who it suits, gives a price guide or explains what affects the price, and links to the dentist who does the work. Written that way, a page earns both the ranking and the booking.

Treatment pages we usually build

  • General check-ups and cleans
  • Emergency dentistry
  • Dental implants
  • Clear aligners and orthodontics
  • Teeth whitening
  • Wisdom teeth removal
  • Children's dentistry
  • Sedation and nervous patients

How the SEO runs

  • AuditTechnical health, speed, current rankings for every treatment and suburb phrase that matters, and the practices already in the map pack around you. Free, no obligation.
  • ArchitectureTreatment pages and suburb pages planned as one structure, with internal links that tell Google which page answers which search.
  • ContentNew treatment and suburb pages each month, written to AHPRA's advertising guidelines and checked by your team before they go live.
  • Profile and linksGoogle Business Profile categories, services and photos kept current, with every review answered without discussing the patient's care. Editorial links come from reputable Australian sites.

The “near me” effect. “Dentist near me” draws about 60,500 searches a month in Australia. Those results are decided mostly by Google Business Profile and the searcher's location, which is why we build the profile and the suburb pages together.Semrush Keyword Overview, Australia database, October 2026. // 04 · 780 mThe rules

Marketing that stays inside AHPRA's lines

Dentists advertise under the Health Practitioner Regulation National Law. A lot of generic agency copy breaks it. We write to the rules from the first draft so your team is approving pages, not rewriting them.

No clinical testimonials

Section 133 of the National Law prohibits testimonials in advertising a regulated health service. That includes patient comments about treatment or outcomes reposted on your own site or social channels. Comments about service, like a friendly front desk or easy parking, can be used. We link to your Google profile rather than copying reviews across.

Careful with “specialist”

Only dentists with specialist registration can use specialist titles, and words like “specialises in” can mislead when used by a general dentist. We use wording such as “substantial experience in” where it fits and keep registered specialists within their specialty.

Honest before-and-afters

Before-and-after photos can create unreasonable expectations. When we use them, the angle, lighting and framing match, any editing is disclosed, and the treatment is the only thing that changed. We avoid promises of outcomes, urgency offers that push people into treatment, and unsupported claims.

APP

Patient enquiries contain health information, which the Australian Privacy Principles treat as sensitive information. Our forms ask for the minimum, and Kraken-hosted sites sit in Kinsta's Melbourne data centre. AHPRA does not give legal advice on individual ads, and nor do we, so your practice should get its own advice on anything borderline.

Why dentists work with Kraken

Health-sector rules, already learned

Our first clients were in the care sector, where advertising, privacy and accessibility rules are strict. We work to the same discipline for dental: sourced claims, careful wording and accessible pages.

One operator, start to finish

You deal with Joshua Bartlett, the owner, from the first call to every monthly report. No account managers, no juniors, no offshore hand-offs. The person who scopes the work does the work.

Fixed price, written first

Websites are quoted as a fixed scope and price before any work starts. SEO, Google Business Profile and Google Ads are month to month. If we cannot deliver a result you are happy with within the agreed website scope, you are not charged.

#1

Our sister business, Good Company Disability Services, is the first organic result on Google for “NDIS mentor” (checked in Australia, 12 October 2026). It is a regulated health-adjacent service, and the method behind that result is the one we apply to dental practices. Read the case study.

Questions dentists ask about SEO

How long does SEO take for a dental practice?

Expect early movement in 3 to 6 months and significant results in 6 to 12. Low-competition phrases, such as a treatment plus a smaller suburb, often move first. The big suburb phrases and “near me” map pack positions take longer and depend heavily on your Google Business Profile and reviews.

Is there a contract?

No. SEO is month to month at $349, $699 or $1,199 + GST, and you can cancel any month. Websites are a fixed price against a written scope, agreed before work starts.

Can we use patient reviews on our website?

Not reviews about clinical care. Section 133 of the National Law prohibits testimonials in advertising a regulated health service, and reposting a review on your own site or social media makes it your advertising. Comments about service, like a friendly front desk or easy parking, can be used. Reviews on Google that you don't control can stay where they are. We link to them, and we answer them without discussing anyone's treatment.

Do you write the treatment pages, or do we?

We write them, using information from your team and reputable sources, in plain English and within AHPRA's advertising guidelines. Your dentists review every clinical page before it goes live, because they are responsible for what it says.

Do we need a new website for SEO to work?

Not always. The free audit checks speed, structure, mobile usability and how your booking system is embedded. If your current site can rank, we work on it. If it can't, we'll say so and give you a fixed price for a dental website built for SEO.

Will you work with the practice down the road?

We won't run SEO for two practices competing for the same suburbs and treatments. Once we take you on, your catchment is yours.

What does dentist SEO actually include?

Dentist SEO covers treatment pages (implants, Invisalign, emergency dental), suburb pages for each area you draw patients from, Google Business Profile optimisation for the map pack, review generation, technical fixes and AHPRA-compliant content. Every month you get a report showing rankings, calls and new-patient bookings. Plans start at $349 + GST a month.
