SEO for electricians and websites that get the call

“Electrician near me” is searched about 22,200 times a month in Australia, almost all on mobile. We build electrician websites and local SEO that put your REC number, your suburbs and a call button in front of those searches, and track which jobs the website actually wins.

Where the jobs are biting

Where electricians are searched for, suburb by suburb.

The fish finder above plots every “electrician + suburb” search we could measure, sized by monthly searches and placed by distance from our Mount Martha base. The log beside it is the same data in a table. Two things stand out: the volume sits in Frankston and Mornington, and the smaller suburbs have difficulty scores low enough that a well-built page can rank in months rather than years.

Electrical searches are a mix of “something is wrong” (power out, tripping switch, burning smell) and “I want to add something” (EV charger, lighting, switchboard upgrade for solar). The emergency pages need a phone number and an honest statement of when you answer; the project pages need photos, brands and a clear way to get a quote. Rising demand for EV chargers and switchboard upgrades is a chance to own those searches locally before the bigger franchises do.

What a electrical website has to carry

A sonar pass over a electrical website that does its job. The scan line crosses each element; tap one to see why it is there.

  1. Tap-to-call in the headerThe number is a button on every screen, with the hours you actually answer. Emergency searchers do not scroll.
  2. Service and area in the first lineThe headline says what you do and where, in the words people search. “Electrician, Frankston & Peninsula” beats a slogan.
  3. REC number up frontLicence, registration and insurance in a trust strip near the top of every page. It is a legal matter and a conversion matter.
  4. One page per job typeEach service gets its own page, with the questions customers ask answered honestly. That is what ranks, and what converts planned-work searchers.
  5. Reviews pulled from GoogleReal reviews, pulled through and answered. A review link you can text after a job keeps them coming.
  6. A short quote formThree fields, then a confirmation by text and email. Long forms lose the job to the next tab.
  7. Recent jobs by suburbPhotos of real work captioned with the suburb. They prove you are local and they rank for the suburb.
  8. Suburb pages, not a listA sentence listing suburbs ranks for nothing. A page for each suburb you cover, with local detail, ranks and converts.

REC number

In Victoria a Registered Electrical Contractor must display its REC number on advertising, and a website is advertising. We put the REC number in the header, the footer and the schema markup, alongside your licensed electrician numbers, insurance and any solar or EV accreditations. It satisfies the regulator and it is the trust signal customers look for first.

  • AuditTechnical health, mobile speed, current rankings and the competitors already winning your suburbs. Free, with no obligation, and you get first thoughts within one business day.
  • ArchitectureA page for every job type (switchboard upgrades, safety switches and fault finding, ev charger installation) and every suburb you cover, linked so Google reads them as one authority on electrical in your area.
  • Profile + reviewsGoogle Business Profile set up for a service-area business, review link in your after-job text, every review answered.
  • MeasureCall tracking and form tracking, so the monthly report shows calls and enquiries by page, not just rankings.

The “near me” effect. “Plumber near me” and “electrician near me” each draw about 22,200 searches a month across Australia, and “builders near me” about 4,400. Those searches are decided by Google Business Profile and the searcher’s location, which is why the profile and the suburb pages are built together.Semrush Keyword Overview, Australia database, October 2026. Why electricians work with Kraken

One operator, start to finish

You deal with Joshua Bartlett, the owner, from the first call to every monthly report. No account managers, no juniors, no offshore hand-offs. The person who scopes the job builds it.

Fixed price, written first

Websites are quoted as a fixed scope and a fixed price before any work starts. SEO, Google Business Profile and Google Ads are month to month. If we cannot deliver a result you are happy with within the agreed website scope, you are not charged.

Local, and it shows

Kraken is based in Mount Martha. We know the difference between a Rosebud summer and a Somerville estate build, and the pages we write for you read that way. Every number we publish is sourced and dated.

#1

Our sister business, Good Company Disability Services, is the first organic result on Google for “NDIS mentor” (checked in Australia, 12 October 2026). The same local-page method behind that result is what we apply to trades. Read the case study.

Questions electricians ask before they call

How many electricians are searching for the same customers?

More than you would think in Frankston, fewer than you fear in the smaller suburbs. “Electrician frankston” gets about 590 searches a month and “electrician mount martha” about 90, and the Semrush difficulty score on the smaller suburb terms is low. We start with the pages that can rank quickly and build out from there.

Does an electrician really need more than a one-page website?

A single page can rank for one or two phrases. Separate pages for switchboard upgrades, EV chargers, safety switches and each suburb you work can rank for dozens, and they answer the questions customers actually have. Our Essential package covers up to 6 pages, Growth up to 15.

Where does my REC number need to appear?

On advertising, which includes your website. We put it in the header, footer and structured data on every page, so it is visible to customers and to Google.

What does electrician SEO cost and is there a contract?

$349 + GST a month, month to month, no lock-in. It includes keyword tracking for your suburbs, scheduled audits, on-page and content work, suburb pages and editorial link building, with a plain-English report every month.

Can you set up my Google Business Profile too?

Yes. Most electrical businesses are service-area businesses with a hidden address, and the profile needs categories, service areas, services and photos set up for that. We offer a one-off optimisation and a monthly management option; see the Google Business Profile page.
